The Question
Jennie walks up to Dave and puts her hands over his eyes. “ I want to ask you something” she says to him. Jennie slowly moves one hand down to his lips and holds a finger there to make sure he doesn’t talk and walks around to be in front of Dave. “I need you not to think about your answer but tell me what you feel. And please don’t tell me what you think I need to hear” Dave nods in agreement and waits for the question. “Do you miss me?” Jennie asks quickly as if she knew if it wasn’t said fast enough she would never get the words to leave her trembling lips. Dave just looked at her for a moment and then his eyes went down to face the ground. Dave sighed and said quietly “everyday”. They both looked at each for a moment and knew that the time that they spent together still tore them apart on the inside. She knew that time may make the pain dull but that the longing is always there. Jennie looked Dave right in the eyes and said, “Well at least I’m not alone”
